MASSAGE THERAPY

Genie Bright, RMT

Genie Bright RMT CMRP completed her Matrix Repatterning education and certification requirements as of September 2020 and is now a certified practitioner of Matrix Repatterning. Please note that Matrix Repatterning falls within the scope of RMT practices and is therefore billable under your extended health plan.

Genie is an honors graduate with an award for “Wholistic Therapist”. She has nearly 15 years of experience teaching yoga, Pilates and postural awareness and enjoys using these modalities as a form of prescriptive exercise for clients.

Genie has keen interest and experience in fascial treatments as well as postural therapy and coaching. Fascia is a type of connective tissue found throughout the body which can be effectively sculpted using manual intervention. This allows for postural healing and more optimal function and comfort throughout the body. Balancing postural alignment facilitates energy flow in the body and transformation on all levels of being. Genie is a practitioner who lives what she teaches and has an earnest desire to educate and nurture her clients in the direction of balance and harmony.

Genie practices a lovely technique known as Holistic Pulsing. This approach operates through pleasurable, effortless, comforting movements (rocking, bouncing and shimmering the tissues) which softly encourages the body/mind to ‘‘let go’’ of deep-seated tension and open to ease and grace. Holistic Pulsing can be a treatment in and of itself or integrated into general Swedish Massage sessions.

For clients who enjoy a deeper approach, Genie has also been trained in deep tissue therapy.

Matrix Repatterning:

The goal of Matrix Repatterning is to systematically discover and treat primary restrictions deep within the framework of the body, ultimately restoring balance and structural integrity at a molecular level.

A primary restriction is a source of tension that puts the fibres of the body into a state of chronic strain. Primary restrictions are often a result of past injury or impact. With time and accumulation of injury, our body can move seriously out of balance.

A Matrix Repatterning practitioner will scan the client in order to determine the precise location of each primary restriction and thus apply a gentle, corrective procedure to clear old patterns and treat the source of the imbalance.

Treatment Expectations:

The initial assessment usually involves postural assessment, ranges of motion, as well as neurological signs and joint stability tests if applicable. A global body scan using bio-compatible concentric magnets is performed in order to determine the areas of the body requiring treatment.

Treatment is very gentle and a series of sessions can release structural imbalances that have potentially been compensated for by the body for a very long time. Systematically, these restrictions are treated until more optimal function is restored.

Please wear comfortable, warm, stretchy clothing and please no underwire bra or fit bit devices on the body as these can affect the outcome of assessment and treatment.

Wellness Timeline:

Typically, Matrix Repatterning yields significant functional improvement within 8-12 treatments. For more complex cases, treatments may extend beyond 12 sessions.

First time clients may consider setting up 6-8 treatments initially and these can be cancelled at any time, if needed, keeping in mind our 24-hour cancellation policy.

Treatments spaced 1 week apart is recommended but not necessary.

MASSAGE THERAPY

Lou Lyman, RMT

Lou (she/her) is a cis, white, queer massage therapist, grateful to be living and working as a treaty person in this beautiful place, on the ancestral and unceded Territory of the Mi’kmaq People.

She is an Honours graduate of the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy and a member with the Massage Therapy Association of Nova Scotia (MTANS). She is currently in her fourth year of studies at the Canadian College of Osteopathy.  Lou’s approach to treatment is informed by her studies in Osteopathy and rooted in the body’s resiliency and innate healing capacity. She values working together to understand the story of your body, layering assessment and an unfolding deep listening to treat the whole person and the root causes of pain.  Lou is humbled to be working in support of each person’s healing.

Her practice is based in treating fascia through a variety of MyoFascial Release Techniques, including cupping therapy. Fascia is the landscape of the body and intimately shapes our muscles, patterns of tension and pain, range of motion, posture, skeletal structure, nervous system, circulatory system and organ systems - everything in our body is surrounded by fascia.

She comes to this work from years of community work and facilitation that grounded her in the complexities and transformational possibilities of our bodies. She understands body work to be essential to personal and community healing, and works to practice from trauma-informed and politicized body work frameworks, working towards the roots of how our individual and collective experiences manifest in our bodies. Lou treats a broad spectrum of conditions and manifestations of pain. She is committed to making her practice a space for queer, trans, two-spirit and non-binary bodies, Black, Brown and Indigenous bodies, fat bodies, disabled bodies. She strives for accessibility and dignity for all bodies.

A lover of lakes and the salty ocean, Lou spends her time with nature, in or beside bodies of water. She loves cooking and sharing food, deep dives into Astrology, dancing, singing, reading and connecting with community.

Lynn Moulstone, Office Manager

After caring for many children over the past 20 years while being a stay-at-home mom to her own three children, Lynn was ready to make a change.   She has spent the past year working many casual, temporary, and part-time positions, as well as upgrading her skills all leading towards her goal of full-time employment.

Lynn has gotten to know many of the practitioners at the clinic over the past four years.  Having had some health problems of her own and being unable to get answers, she was advised to seek osteopathic treatment.  That was the start of her journey back to good health with the combination of osteopathy, naturopathy, and acupuncture.

Lynn also became an Independent Epicure Consultant in April 2012, around the same time her journey to good health began.  Her love for cooking with Epicure has helped a great deal with keeping meals on a healthy track.  Spending quality time with her family is very important and she enjoys camping, hiking and outdoor activities.  She also likes playing the guitar and piano.

Having several years of customer service experience, she finds it very rewarding helping people.    If she doesn’t have the answer, she will do her best to find it.  She is very pleased to be working with the dedicated team at Watershed Wellness and continues to practice the changes to her lifestyle the practitioners have taught her.  Lynn looks forward to meeting and assisting all current and new clients at the front desk.
